1. Is there a cruise ship that can visit both Ha Long and Lan Ha bay?
Cruises are only allowed to run according to a schedule already registered with the port authority and choose routes either Ha Long Bay or Lan Ha Bay. Up to now, no cruise ship has a program to visit both Ha Long and Lan Ha bays.
2. Does the cruise depart from the pier or do you have to take a tender boat?
There are some cruises at Tuan Chau wharf that have their own pier, so guests can go directly to the ship without taking a tender boat. The remaining cruises or those departing from the GOT ferry terminal (the area near the water is very shallow, the ship cannot dock) will have to use a tender boat to move from the pier to the big ship.
3. Is the tender boat safe? How long does it take?
Tenders are private boats of cruises and are designed to meet safety standards. The boats are also fully equipped with life jackets so you can feel completely secure when traveling. Travel time only takes about 15-20 minutes.
4. Are there any cruise ships that pick up/drop off passengers at Cat Ba?
Currently, there are no cruise ships with pick-up and drop-off services in Cat Ba. If you are in Cat Ba before and after the trip, you can buy a ferry ticket or a speedboat to move directly to Tuan Chau wharf or GOT ferry to join the journey.
