As it's not on Hwy 1A, few travellers get a taste of Thai Binh.The only real sight of interest is the nearby 12th-century Keo Pagoda, Is was built to honour both the Buddha and the monk Khong Minh Khong, who miraculously cured Emperor Ly T'hanh Ton (r 1128-38) of leprosy. The finely carved wooden bell tower is considered a masterpiece of traditional Vietnamese architecture. The nearby dike is a good place to get a general view of the pagoda complex. Keo Pagoda is 9.5km southwest of Thai Binh and easily reached by xe om (motorbike taxi; 20,000d)
